Our Heritage and Mission

Our Spiritual Heritage

The spiritual foundation of Yeshua's Harvest Pentecostal Church Sydney is rooted in the historic ministry of the Pentecostal Church of Kiremba, a significant Pentecostal mission church in Burundi.

The Pentecostal work in Burundi began in 1935 through Swedish missionaries who answered the call to bring the Gospel to Central Africa. Among these pioneers were Thomas and Anna Winberg, and Alda Holmström, Almaa Andersson, Alice Kjellberg, Gosta Werlinder, and Viola Werlinder.

Leaving their homeland in Sweden, they travelled to Burundi to preach the Gospel, establish mission stations, and disciple new believers. Through their dedication to evangelism, prayer, and biblical teaching, Pentecostal churches were planted and the Christian faith spread across the region.

As the church grew, strong Burundian leadership emerged to continue and expand the mission. Among the influential early national pastors was Abed-Nego Madengo, who played a key role in strengthening pastoral ministry, planting Pentecostal churches in most of Burundian provinces and expanding the church’s outreach in the Kiremba region.

In later years, the church continued to grow under devoted spiritual leaders, including the late Elie Ndikunkiko, who faithfully served as Reverend Senior Pastor and contributed significantly to the spiritual development and leadership of the church. His ministry left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire the mission of the church today.

Today, the Pentecostal Church of Kiremba continues to serve as the parent church and spiritual mentor of Yeshua's Harvest Pentecostal Church Sydney, reflecting a shared commitment to biblical truth, Pentecostal faith, and global mission.

Our Spiritual Mentorship

As a daughter church, Yeshua's Harvest Pentecostal Church Sydney values the spiritual guidance and heritage received from the Pentecostal Church of Kiremba. This relationship provides pastoral encouragement, prayer support, and shared ministry vision, helping the church remain rooted in sound biblical teaching and the power of the Holy Spirit.

From Kiremba to the Nations

Inspired by this spiritual heritage, Yeshua's Harvest Pentecostal Church Sydney continues the mission of proclaiming the Gospel and raising disciples across cultures and nations.
From Kiremba to the Nations, the church is committed to:

o Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ
o Raising faithful disciples and Spirit-filled leaders
o Empowering believers through the Holy Spirit
o Serving communities with love and compassion
o Advancing the Kingdom of God among all nations

This mission reflects the words of Acts 1:8:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Guided by this calling, Yeshua's Harvest Pentecostal Church Sydney seeks to continue the legacy of faith and mission that began in Kiremba, reaching communities in Australia and beyond.
